Types of Property: House

Your family is expanding, you really want a dog or maybe you’re just running out of space in your flat. You need a bigger place and you’re thinking about making the ultimate property commitment and buying a house of your own.

If this is your first time, it’s a good idea to find estate agents who will be able to guide your steps and ensure you get the best deal and even if you’ve done it all before, why not get someone else to do the hard work?

House Property

Estate agents have years of experience and knowledge at their fingertips and will be able to offer advice on your new venture as making the leap from living in a flat to buying a house has both advantages and disadvantages.

House prices can be a lot more expensive to heat compared to that one bed flat that you’ve come from. Make sure you budget for this. Also, houses are not generally as secure as flats – there’s no security door. Invest in a good alarm system.

But the good thing is, you’ll have a lot more space and it will be all your own. No more sharing walkways with dubious neighbours, or cleaning others’ messes. You will have a garden to sit in on sunny days, but don’t forget about the maintenance. Houses are more work, but the benefits are larger too. You’ll still have your neighbours around, but they won’t be in such close proximity – you won’t feel so cramped. If the kids make a mess of the garden, there’s nobody you have to apologise to. And if you really have your heart set on that dog, there will be space to play games and enjoy your time together. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into before you sign. Happy hunting!
